Caves of Goo
The caves are infested with goo!
(and it's spreading)
What caves? The endless ones.
What goo? Goo worm goo.
Protected by your self cleaning hazmat suit and armed with your trusty, adjustable nozzle spray gun, do you have the guts to clean the goo, clear out the worms and delve ever deeper?
A fast-paced top-down, twin-stick shooter with cute, pixel art and tonnes of goo.
Luckily you have a self-refilling tank of proprietary Dihydrogen Monoxide Anti-Goo Serum to clean it all up. Spray to clean the cave floors and shoot blobs to deal with the aggressive Living Goo Balls.
Your hazmat suit can only protect you from so much Goo, so be careful where you step.
Protect yourself and get close enough to the source of the Goo, the invasive Goo Worms. Clear them all out on each level of the cave to find your way to more dangerous depths.
Now available to play in the browser, right here on itch!
Please note: The framerate is much better on the standalone exe version.

How to play:
Only mouse and keyboard are supported right now.
Possible updates to come! The game is fairly limited right now, with only 2 enemy types, and not much variety to the caves. It is technically endless, with the size of the caves and amounts of enemies increasing with each level.
Known bugs:
- Sometimes slimes can spawn inside walls, luckily you can shoot through walls sometimes (not intended)
- Sometimes slimes can spawn inside each other, causing rapid movement.

Very fun game! Cleaning the goo feels pretty, it's a shame it starts hurting performance. With upgrades and bit more enemy variety this could become very addictive :D
I have some ideas to improve performance, the code is spaghetti right now. Thanks for the encouragement.
its a fun little game, i could see myself getting very addicted to a thing like this. the one thing that i would love to see is a health bar for the slims. I can't wait to see how deep the game goes.
That's a great idea, there isn't much in the way of feed back right now when you hit them, the sounds are too... smooshed together. Thanks for the encouragement, I'll definitely work on this game more.
If you wanted to push the slimes further you could also add in that different colored ones did different things, eg long-range ones, ones that split into smaller ones, and ones that exploded into more pink goo. stuff like that
Variety of enemies is absolutely on my list.
I really like the song, the way it builds makes me want to go deeper.
I also like the bubble sound effects.
One thing I found is that I was running out of water in situations where I was totally surrounded by goo and enemies. Maybe if there was a dodge or parry mechanic you could fallback to when you are totally out of water. But maybe I just need to get gud haha.
I had fun playing this, I may come back to this tomorrow when I am more awake.
I totally feel you on the need for a dodge, it gets hectic sometimes. I was going for added intensity by adding the limited water I think maybe it went a bit too far. Maybe some more fine tuning. I don't think I'm done with this game for sure.
Very well done.
Thank you for playing!
I like this a lot! The only thing that bugs me is when you get too close to the exit it makes you leave, both levels I played I couldn't reach the last goo to clean, and I'm OCD
That started to bug me too, will definitely have to make it require more deliberate input.
I had fun with the water spray lol. Fun mechanic. Keep making games man! +1 to your analytics as well :)
Thanks so much for playing.
